The Smart Serve Educational DVD is an active tool in our training process of participants which is designed to promote responsible beverage service to individuals in the restaurant/ food service and beverage industry. Registration is required prior to the completion of course. The course is self- directed and not instructor-led. Multiple participants can sign-up together to complete the course. Program workbook is given at the time of payment. Costs are applicable. Length of course: 4 hours.
Participants must complete the Smart Serve Exam/Test. The John Howard Society of Durham Region will mail and receive the results on your behalf. The processing time is approximately 2-6 weeks in which the successful Participant’s Certification and Pin would be available for pick up. However, if a Participant is unsuccessful with their first test, they will be notified and are entitled to 1 free re-write.
The program covers nine key areas: Facts about alcohol, How alcohol works in the body, Signs of intoxication, Legal Rights and Responsibilities, Civil Liability, Types of Licenses, Prevention and intervention techniques, House policies and Risk Assessment.
