Learning Alternatives Program (Literacy and Basic Skills)

The John Howard Society Learning Alternatives Program helps adults in Ontario to develop and apply communication, numeracy, interpersonal and digital skills to achieve their goals.

Individualized learning plans and flexible scheduling

The Learning Alternatives Program serves learners who have a specific path to successfully transition to employment, post-secondary, apprenticeship, secondary school, and increased independence. The Learning Alternatives Program creates individualized learning plans and provides flexible scheduling to support participant’s needs and goals for success. All services are free.

Who is eligible?

  • Adult 19 years and over
  • Permanent resident of ontario

  • Secondary school credit

  • Apprenticeship
  • Self-confidence

An instructor will further assess your needs and suitability for the Learning Alternatives Program.
